8/18 Blog Post
Having a job or starting an internship/mentorship is more than just walking into the workplace and immediately relaxing and getting comfortable. You don't always know exactly what to do without being shown the ropes. It's always important to contact your supervisor before you start and get your schedule confirmed, or to ask any other questions. Once you start make sure that you pay attention, be responsible, understand the environment and the people around you. Build relationships and be respectful to others around you. Hard work and enthusiasm are very important as well, make sure that you are always professional in the way you work and act. Always seek out opportunities to learn and grow in your mentorship. If you do not have proper guidance than the internship is almost unimportant. A mentorship is a great experience for me to study the field of my interest. All these points are very true in my opinion and have helped me gain an understanding of what to expect in my mentorship. I plan on using these strategies to get the best out of my experiences with y mentor.
