Communication is one of the most important job skills to obtain, and each situation is different. Whether we are talking to our friends, talking to a boss, writing a blog, using visuals, or just listening, communication is key. First off we can't talk to our boss like we talk to our friends, the slang we use around our friends is most likely inappropriate in your work place. A proper way to write or post online is important as well, you may not be speaking and changing your voice like you would during a speech, but the effectiveness is also determined by the language that you use. And listing is just as important when it comes to communication. If your boss tells you to do a job a certain way but you weren't paying attention and you do it wrong; it may result in a punishment of sort or the loss of your job. All these communication skills are important to master and use in order to gain the best experience in whatever situation you are put in.
Every person is expected to talk appropriately. Not all employers understand the slang terms that we use with our friends or even our family. Not only will they not understand it, it is also very inappropriate. When in an interview, always respond respectfully and with more than one word. Be confident and speak clearly in order to set yourself apart from the rest. When I am interacting with my mentor, I will be sure that I will answer questions with more than one word, as well as asking questions about things that I am unsure of. Firstly that shows that I have been listening, and secondly, it is important to make sure you do the job right the first time. I also intend to speak up if there may be a problem, which my mentor most likely expects from me as well. Communication will be key in every situation of life, and I intend to use this advice that I have obtained to the best of my ability.

Having a job or starting an internship/mentorship is more than just walking into the workplace and immediately relaxing and getting comfortable. You don't always know exactly what to do without being shown the ropes. It's always important to contact your supervisor before you start and get your schedule confirmed, or to ask any other questions. Once you start make sure that you pay attention, be responsible, understand the environment and the people around you. Build relationships and be respectful to others around you. Hard work and enthusiasm are very important as well, make sure that you are always professional in the way you work and act. Always seek out opportunities to learn and grow in your mentorship. If you do not have proper guidance than the internship is almost unimportant. A mentorship is a great experience for me to study the field of my interest. All these points are very true in my opinion and have helped me gain an understanding of what to expect in my mentorship. I plan on using these strategies to get the best out of my experiences with y mentor.

There were a few things that spoke to me in JD Russo's talk. First off he was very passionate about what he was speaking about, his experiences caused him to take a different view of the world. He was just like anyone of us, but his eyes were open to a bigger picture. All it takes is a little caring and the world can change but we are all indifferent. All it takes is a little passion and a little care, and I can be the best at whatever I can imagine, for me it would be my passion for running, or to go to school for physical therapy.

8/7 Blog Post
The podcast and the "Getting to Know Your Mentor" handout gave me information to help me have a great relationship with my mentor and people around the workplace. It taught m the importance of asking the right questions early in order to avoid any mistakes and to get the right information. The podcast also taught me to avoid hanging around people that gossip and the ones that may be lazy. I feel like this mentorship will give me the experience I need to succeed in this career choice and give me a better feel on how physical therapy works. I plan on doing anything necessary to get the best experience from my mentorship including being on time and turning my work in when necessary. I also plan to dress appropriately, get the work done I need to get done, and be respectful and obedient to any order I receive. This mentorship will help me gain the experience for my future decesion on the career field that I join. I believe that it will help me fuel my passion for helping others in their physical activities as I have once gained helped myself.
